Woodland Well-being Weekends

Health through activity

There are few things more rewarding than taking a well earned rest on a stool you’ve just finished.

There is very little in the world that works as a greater stress reliever than spending time out in the woods or just in nature. There have been plenty of case studies showing a range of benefits that come from any extended exposure to woodland. The best known is the reduction in stress hormones, which leads to reduced blood pressure but, more recently, studies have shown that an hour spent just walking around a wooded area can improve attention and concentration levels by up to 20 or 30%. All this combines to give a greater sense of general well-being and improved happiness. In fact, doctors in Japan have been prescribing time in the woods to overly stressed city-folk for quite some time. They call it forest-bathing.

This is where Strong Roots comes in. Throughout the warmer months of 2019, from April to October, we will be running a number of weekends for adults. The focus will be on relaxation, health, and physical and mental well-being through the participation in a range of activities and workshops such as: bush and woodland craft, meditation, using and cooking on fire, story telling, music circles and much more.

We will be running weekends for men, for women and mixed.
